Have you ever realized how much power you have as a woman? We raise the next generation of movers and shakers. We can influence men, and with that we can have a large say in how things are done…in government, church, and work. We also have so many opportunities to create a life of influence ourselves. We have a loud voice, literally and figuratively. How can we use this power for good and not evil?

What do we do to ensure that we raise up people of integrity? People who work hard to follow Gods will in their lives. People who are willing to stand up for their beliefs and have a voice for the good of mankind. The largest voice we really have is our own example. Children might listen somewhat, but they are definitely watching us. How is our example? One that we want the next generation to emulate? Do they see us following Gods will in our lives? Or are we just the complaining, bitter, angry influences they watch as they grow up? Are we teaching our children to pursue material possession? Shopping all the time, and trying to keep up or trump the neighbors?

Are we bankrupting our families in the pursuit of something that is unattainable? It is happening all around us. It seems to be that the growing genre in reality shows are shows about housewives acting like spoiled high school girls. Sure it’s fun to watch…after all, we aren’t anything like that! Or so we hope. We enjoy watching the degradation of society because it makes us feel better about ourselves. How is it edifying? Does it give women the positive voice that they should have?

I don’t want to sound like I’m preaching from a soapbox. After all, I am guilty of all the things I talk about in this blog today. I am examining my own heart and intention. Knowing the influence I have as a woman, am I using it for good? Am I supporting my husband in his endeavors? Am I raising a generation of men that love God and will do anything to pursue righteousness? Or am I teaching them how toxic a woman can be?

I want to be the woman that is talked about in Proverbs 31! Read it, it’s actually applicable to us today! Lets be women that make a difference…a positive one! Lets support each other and encourage each other. Let’s let gossip fall away from our lives and pray for the people that we would normally be gossiping about. We all need help. If we don’t help each other…where is it going to come from?
