Tracks…

This morning had us driving the usual route to the nearest town. Time to pick up food and cash from the bank. The road isn’t good. There are potholes and bumps and large areas where rocks stick out. You have to be alert the entire time. Not only are you watching the road, you have to watch the traffic. There are countless bicycles, motorcycles, trucks, buses, people and livestock also sharing this narrow strip of space. My knuckles get sore and the adrenaline is at full speed. It’s living at its finest!! It made me think of the road we travel in life…

So many times we look ahead and see bumps and potholes, it can be quite discouraging. There are tracks on the road, usually weaving all over the place. The obstacles seems impossible to avoid. It actually looks a little dangerous. It seems to be that the most worn track would be the smooth one, but it actually ends up being quite bumpy. It is hard to decide which way to go. Right or left? Close to the ditch or down the center?

So many of us want to follow the track the everyone else has gone on. We are afraid to try the less worn path. Even if it looks smoother. So many of us are afraid of being different and trying new things that we just drive through life in the direction we think is safe.

Whatever happened to being the one who forges ahead and creates a new track? Someone who isn’t afraid of driving off the road toward something unknown? Even knowing that it might have bumps and muddy patches, it can still lead to what you are meant to do!

So many of us can see the road we are supposed to follow. We are just a little too afraid to turn off the safe track. Jesus has promised to be with us on our journey, having Him in the drivers seat is exhilarating and right. Psalm16:11 “You will make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand are pleasures forever”. Psalm 23:3 “He restores my life, He leads me in correct paths for the sake of his name.” These verses are just two of many that show us that He will show us the correct path.

Don’t be scared. Make a track of your own. Let others follow…

  1. Yes, I so agree! Love the Blogs. Love that Bible verse in Psalm 16. Also psalm 32.8 tells us that he will guide us with His eye upon us. So precious to realize we are in His constant care, he is only a prayer away.
