These last few weeks have been topsy-turvy. The highs and lows of life as a woman, mother, student, daughter, and Jesus follower. How does one really deal with the emotionality of it all? Sometimes it is just by listening to Skillet at top volume (and dancing), and other days it is gritting my teeth and hoping that I can control the thoughts that continuously race through my mind. Continue reading This is not a test!
“What do you love about Jesus?” was a question that my friend asked me yesterday. I had to think about that for a bit. These last few years I have learned about a new Jesus…not the one I grew up with, the one defined by man…but someone more infinitely beautiful. Someone who really loves. Someone who is real. Someone who is beside me at all times, even when I try to push Him away. “I love that He is patient” was my answer.
Yes, He is patient. And isn’t it marvellous that He is? Continue reading Patience? What’s that?
“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love. Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. When I was pregnant with my last boy I CRAVED Big Macs! Every few days I was driving through the drive through, determined that it would be my last one…but I couldn’t help it. I saw those Golden Arches and the steering wheel turned on its own. I HAD TO have one…or I would DIE!!!
The hunger was visceral. Continue reading A Deep Hunger!
These words came to me last night. Thought I’d share them, so you can absorb what the love of Jesus is, and I do believe that they are from Jesus…
“Dear Child. Open your heart and hear my words. Receive them for yourself. I want you to truly experience what my love really is. For many of you the word LOVE is a foreign word, or it might even be a dirty word. Some of you have never experienced love. It might have been given to you with strings. It might have been violent, or deeply inappropriate – even sexual. Some of you have never experienced TRUE LOVE. It didn’t come from your family, or even your spouse.
Today I want you to experience MY LOVE. A love without conditions, a love that doesn’t expect something back. Continue reading “Dear Child, I love YOU…”
There is nothing like sitting at an airport. People are rushing, sauntering, sitting, sleeping, and arriving or going somewhere on this big planet of ours. I can sit for hours, and often have to, and just watch people. Every color, age, and class seems to be represented.
Each one has a story.
Each one has hopes and dreams. Love. Heartbreak. So many emotions in such a bustling place.
Each one matters to God. Continue reading What’s Your Story?
